How to Start a Roastery - With option to take SCA Intermediate Roasting exam.
This is a great course for anyone considering opening their own coffee roasting business or starting their coffee roasting journey.
A deep dive into all aspects of Coffee Roasting and the Business of Coffee Roasting.
If you are an experienced roaster looking to gain your SCA Intermediate level roasting certification, this is also a great course to attend as we cover material for this level. It is recommended that you have roasting experience as the Intermediate level exam is aimed at students already roasting.
Location: Onsite at our Wandsworth Training Campus
Length: Three full days in length.

Times: 9:30 to 5:30 each day. We do not provide lunch on these courses but you are welcome to bring food with you or visit local shops or cafes.
This course will be taught by Jamie Banwell.
Jamie has been an SCA qualified roasting trainer for 5 years and a Diedrich Master Trainer for 10 years. Jamie is a Q Grader, formerly a UKBC and WBC Judge and currently a judge for regional roasting competitions: he also has a BEng in Engineering in Civil Engineering from the UMIST.
What you'll learn:
This comprehensive 3-day course covers roasting profiles and all aspects of setting up your roastery. Using commercial roasters, you will learn the skill of roasting, as well as;
We also provide a talk on how to buy your green coffee from a green coffee merchant and discuss management techniques.

You can also use this course as preparation to take the SCA Intermediate exam at a later date.

1. Cancellations & Refunds

More than 7 days before the course: You may cancel your booking for a full refund or reschedule to a future date (subject to availability).

Within 7 days of the course: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund but will do our best to reschedule you as soon as we have availability.

Non-attendance without notice: If you do not attend the course and have not informed us in advance, the booking will be treated as a no-show, and no refund or reschedule will be possible.
2. Illness or Emergency

If you are unwell or unable to attend due to an emergency, please contact us as soon as possible.

We may be able to offer a reschedule (one-time only) at our discretion, particularly if you provide notice and we are able to fill your space.

Refunds will not be issued for illness-related cancellations, but we will always do our best to accommodate a new date.
3. Gift Vouchers

Vouchers are non-refundable but are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Vouchers can be transferred to someone else at any time before the course.

If the voucher holder is unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance and we will do our best to offer an alternative date (subject to availability).
4. Cancellations by Us

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a course (e.g. due to staff illness or low numbers), we will offer a full refund or reschedule, whichever you prefer.
